We keep your pets healthy at Independence Animal Clinic through comprehensive dental disease prevention services. Your pet’s wellness is the result of regular dental care, including oral exams, wellness bloodwork, and thorough dental cleanings.
Dental disease can lead to a variety of illnesses in dogs and cats, such as heart disease, kidney disease and severe bacterial infection. The doctors at Independence protect your pet with a program of preventive dental health care, tailored to each patient’s special needs.
Dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia, for the safety and comfort of our patients. The need for this procedure varies from patient to patient. Of course, pets with a regular home dental care program usually require professional cleaning less often.
First, the dental tartar is removed above and below the gumline by a combination of hand scaling and the use of an ultrasonic scaler. Any loose, broken or damaged teeth that are the cause of pain or infection are extracted and gums sutured. Finally, the enamel is polished with a prophy-paste to slow down future plaque buildup.
Regular dental check ups and cleanings prevent periodontal disease, infection and tooth loss.
We provide digital dental X-ray to pinpoint tooth root and bone problems and to determine the necessary treatment.
A variety of dental issues are addressed by our veterinarians:
