Dr. Shelly Gomulak

Owner/DVM

 

 

Dr. Shelly Gomulak grew up in upstate New York in a dairy farming community. She attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY achieving a bachelor’s of science. She liked it so much that she stayed at Cornell for veterinary school as well.

 

After graduating, Dr. Shelly completed a 1 year internship program at Berwyn Animal Hospital, a specialty clinic in Chicago, IL. She has been practicing just short of 15 years with an emphasis on small animal medicine and surgery.

 

Shelly also enjoys working with exotics and the special challenges of shelter medicine. She and her husband Matt came to Texas 14 years ago and loved it so much they never left (insert tongue in cheek). They have 5 children and are very involved with the local animal shelter, Noah’s Ark.

Dr. Diana Bayer

DVM

 

Dr. Bayer grew up in Lindsay, TX. She graduated from Texas A & M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She has worked on small animals at Independence Animal Clinic since November 2008. Her special interests include internal and preventive medicine.

Outside of work, she enjoys lots of family time with her husband and five children and many pets.

 

Dr. Aubrey Eberhart

DVM

 

I was raised in Eastern Iowa at a horse-breeding farm. From an early age I showed an interest in caring for animals, which led to my career in veterinary medicine. I went to veterinary school at Iowa State University and graduated in 2011 and have been at Independence Small Animal Clinic since 2012.

 

Growing up, I showed in many different equine disciplines including three-day Eventing, Dressage, and Horsemanship. My main interests involve small animal internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, animals, and lifting weights at the gym.

 

Dr. Kristina Janson

DVM/DACT

 

Dr. Kristina Janson grew up in northwest Iowa and knew she wanted to pursue veterinary medicine from young age. She completed a B.S. in Animal Science at Iowa State University and went on to graduate from Iowa State’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.

 

Following veterinary school she completed an internship at the New Jersey Equine Clinic and residency in large animal reproduction at the University of Pennsylvania. After residency she moved to North Texas and it has been home ever since.

 

Outside of work you’ll likely find Kristina practicing agility with her dog Winnie, triathlon training or spending any extra free time with family & friends.

 

Diana Garrison

Practice Manager

 

I am the Practice Manager at Independence Equine and Small Animal Clinic since 2009.

 

I moved to Texas from Ohio in 2008. I have managed Veterinary Hospitals for 21 years. I love animals and I love business so it only made sense to find a career to combine the two.

 

I have a horse named Pistol and one that I love to ride named Leaner (both are Reining Horses). My dog Little Bit keeps me on my toes. I love the beach and the mountains. In my downtime I love to cook, ride motorcycles, travel, watch Reining and Calf Roping, to name a few. Life is good!

 

Renee Rigsby

Veterinary Technician Team Lead

 

I’m from Shreveport, Louisiana. I am a veterinarian technician.All my life I have had a special interest in animals no matter how big or small. I have a German Shepherd named Moose. He is my fur baby and holds a very special place in my heart.I believe that every animal deserves a chance to be loved and taken care of.

 

Madison Parrish

Veterinary Technician

 

My name is Madison Parrish and I am a Veterinarian Technician at Independence Small Animal Clinic. I’m originally from Midland Texas but moved to Whitesboro Texas recently. I have 2 dogs, a Chiweenie and a mixed Catahoula. I also have 2 Quarter Horses.

 

Growing up I always looked up to my step- mom who is also a Veterinarian Technician. I’m very excited to work here at Independence Small animal clinic.

Courtney Keathley

Part-Time Veterinary Technician

 

My name is Courtney Keathley. I proceeded to expand my knowledge of veterinary medicine by becoming a Certified Nutritionist, Fear Free Certified, Euthanasia Certified and continue to build my CE credits by constantly learning something new about animals.

 

I am on the board of the Noah’s Ark animal shelter and striving to make as much of a difference as I can. Rescuing and fostering animals is my hobby and every animal saved takes a little piece of my heart with them.

 

I have 4 dogs and 3 longhaired cats. They are my world and I treat every animal with as much love as my own.

 

Christian Hornbeck

Veterinary Technician

 

Since 1989, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to dedicate my years helping animals in the veterinary industry, most of which as a technician.

 

I moved to Collinsville in 2018 and I’ve been blessed to have found my place here at Independence Equine and small Animal clinic. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, camping, hiking and most of all, spending time with my pups and my family. I volunteer as a K9 handler for a local Search and Rescue Team during my remaining free time.

 

I have two Belgian Malinois and a German Shorthair Pointer who provide constant daily challenges, while reminding me how lucky I am to have them. My husband always says, ”It’s not work if you truly love what you do.” I couldn’t agree more.

Deanna Rocha

FT Receptionist

 

My name is Deanna Rocha. I am the Assistant Veterinary Technician. My job is to help assistant all technicians and doctors wherever needed in the clinic. I also make sure the hospital kennel area and clinic is kept nice and tidy.

 

It’s my job to make sure you and your pets have everything needed to help the doctors and technicians provide great customer service. We all work together as a Team! I have one dog that is now 14 years old and his name is “Little Man.” He is truly my absolute “Best Friend”.

 

Growing up in Texas and Louisiana I was surrounded by animals such as dogs, horses, cats and knew that I would be working with animals. I am so fortunate to be given this opportunity to work at Independence Small Animal Clinic and very excited to see what the future holds for me.

Tammy Falgout Dancer

FT Receptionist Lead

 

I’m Tammy and I joined the Independence Equine and Small Animal family March 2020. I am enjoying every second of it. I grew up surrounded by animals and love being able to be around them every day.

 

I am married to my husband Shane Dancer and together we have four boys and five girls, as well as five amazing grandchildren. I get to come home everyday to our two Yorkies Gus and Oakley, our husky Diesel and rescue Oliver, as well as Jinx our cat. In my downtime I enjoy photography, riding motorcycles and spending time with my family.

Brooke Lewis

Hi, my name is Brooke, and I am currently in school at NCTC, finishing up general education requirements. I also work at Noah’s Ark as a Kennel Technician. I have one dog, a Jack Russell mix, named Riley. My passion is helping animals. I hope to one day have a career in the Veterinary field.

 

Skyler Adams

PT Receptionist

 

My name is Skyler Adams and I am the part time Receptionist at Independence Small Animal Clinic.

 

Currently I am pursuing a bachelor’s of science in biomedical science at Tarleton State University. After I graduate from Tarleton, I intend to go to veterinary school to earn a doctorate of veterinary medicine and eventually be a veterinarian.

 

I love animals, and I enjoy helping others. I have a dog named Zoe and five cats: Simba, Lucky, Lily, Dude, and Turtle. When I am not in school or working, I spend my time with my family and friends, volunteering, or serving on mission trips.

Lorie Nagelstad

Inventory Manager

 

My Name is Lorie Naglestad I am the Inventory Manager with 20 years’ experience in Veterinary Services.

 

My current role is to oversee all inventory in the pharmacy as well as help keep the doctors informed of new medicines available on the market.

 

My lifetime has revolved around my compassion for the welfare of animals. I enjoy barrel racing and showing Reined Cow Horse with my husband Jens Naglestad who is a Farrier and fellow Equine enthusiast. My two daughters Amber (25) and Ashley (23) My son Torran (16) as well as my 6 horses 4 dogs 1 cat and 1 rabbit absorb the rest of my free time.

 

I chose Independence Equine and Small Animal Clinic because it is a Progressive, Compassionate workplace. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the team and I am excited about our future.

Jean Dumovich

I was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo and lived in Chicago until I moved to Texas 17 years ago. I have a real passion for animals, especially cats, dogs, horses and donkey’s. My husband and I have a ranch in Collinsville, TX and we are both retired enjoying our animals and traveling. I worked in the Veterinary field for 15 years and have always said my job at Independence Small Animal was the Best Job Ever!!!! I am grateful and excited to help the clinic when they need my assistance in the future.
