Nutritional Counseling

Appropriate nutrition is the foundation of a long, healthy life for our pets. Independence Small Animal is dedicated to working with you to ensure your pet’s health. One of the biggest problems we see is with proper nutrition, which is why we offer nutritional counseling to all of our clients. Developing and maintaining a balanced diet is paramount to good health, so we have a variety of different nutritional plans for your pet to go on.

Health Diet for Healthy Pets

Diets should be chosen on the basis of your pet’s life stage. Young animals’ nutritional needs are substantially different from those of adult and senior pets. Rest assured that we have the right plan for your animal.

When we examine your pet, we will evaluate their nutritional status and make specific recommendations regarding proper nutrition. We have a variety of prescription diets for each life stage and medical condition that we may be faced with. When we start your pet on a nutrition program, we counsel you on a continuing basis.

Nutrition for Disease Management

Specific disease conditions can be better managed through appropriate nutrition. Specialized diets are now available as part of a treatment plan for allergies, arthritis, cancer, gastrointestinal, heart, liver, kidney, urinary tract disease, dental care, diabetes, and weight management.

For questions regarding nutrition and your pet’s health, please contact Independence Small Animal.

Many pets have dietary needs that can only be met by prescribed nutrition. Our clinic carries a number of prescription diets that are often part of a total health care plan for your pet. Our veterinary staff is able to tailor individual nutrition plans based on your pet’s health needs.

Nourishing Pets and Enriching Lives

For over 90 years, we’ve been guided by the belief that pets and people are better together.

The reason we’re so invested in the quality of our food is because we love pets as much as you do.  You’ll find pets in our homes, and even sitting by our feet as we work in our offices.

Our passion for pets goes beyond pushing pet nutrition forward, and into forging partnerships in the pet welfare world and raising awareness of what pets truly need.  After all, we’ve seen firsthand how powerful the bond with a pet can be, and the many unique ways that pets can strengthen our families and bring our communities closer.

Because we want dedicated and passionate employees on our team, we make sure that Purina is a great place to work.  You can tell from the moment you walk in the door that our world revolves around pets, whether you’re seeing the art on the walls or the many cats and dogs that employees bring to work every day.

Our quest to drive pet nutrition forward and conduct industry-leading research on the wellbeing of pets pushes our company to do more year after year.  We work hard for your pets every day, and we love doing it.

Quality ingredients start at the source. Some pet food brands are content with buying straight off the shelf from their suppliers, but we demand more. That’s why we trace every single ingredient that passes through our doors back to our trusted sources.

Our experts monitor every detail of our ingredients and their origins—from weather patterns to air quality to livestock management practices. We craft 99% of our pet products in the U.S. so we can keep a close eye on every step of the process. We know exactly what goes into every batch, who made it, when it was made and where it’s going.

At Purina we do 100K quality & safety checks per day.  After our food passes thousands of quality & safety checks, it’s ready for your pet’s bowl.
