Dr. Matt and Dr. Shelly Gomulak both have had a passion for animal care since they were small children. Veterinary medicine was the only career they considered pursuing.
They both grew up in the country with household pets, horses and livestock to keep them busy. Shelly has been rescuing stray and abandoned animals since she can remember and had parents that supported her efforts with kindness and understanding.
Her involvement with Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter was a natural turn of events and Independence helps with the health care and spay and neuter of shelter animals free of charge.
Matt spent his summers in Texas in his late teens and early twenties starting reining colts in Pilot Point, TX. He enjoys every aspect of horse care from training young stock to difficult medical procedures. When offered the opportunity to work as a veterinarian in this horse heavy state, he jumped at the chance.
Shelly and Matt have been living and caring for animals in Texas now for 18 years. Starting their own practice was a leap of faith. With three young children and one on the way, it was a gamble at the very least. With hard work, diligence and a lot of compassion, their practice is now thriving and in its twelfth year of operation. Our work is our play because we love what we do.
